In 2007 Merc celebrated their 40th anniversary of styling the world. Established in 1967, the same year in which the Beatles released Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Radio One was launched, The Who played their first stateside gig and a certain Kurt Cobain was born. Wherever you looked it was a year of something for everyone...

However when it came to fashion all eyes were on Britain. Pioneering, audacious and brash, 60s style belonged to London. Youth oriented and youth driven, the boutiques of London set the tone and the world watched and followed. Nowhere was the focus more intense than Carnoby Street. Originally catering to the mods of the day, the Merc name reflected razor sharp cut, attention to details and an immaculate finish that was the signature mod look. For those in the know in search of hip, happening threads, Merc was the ultimate destination.

Whilst most of its original counterparts exist only in nostalgic memories, Merc remains a thriving icon of London‘s fashion history. Still owned and operated by its original founder, Merc has been able to continue its legacy. With legions of fans that included everyone from the Small Faces and the Jam to present day fans Green Day, Graham Coxon, Aerosmith, and the Kaiser Chiefs.
